In a span of less than three hours on Friday, the Arizona Wildcats doubled their 2020 recruiting class. Three-star offensive linemen Josh Baker and Cedric Melton both verbally committed, bringing the class to four.
The 6-foot-3-inch Baker, 280-pound Baker was the first to commit to the Wildcats Friday morning, while Melton — a 6-5, 255-pound offensive tackle from Houston — announced his commitment in the early afternoon. Melton chose Arizona over Houston, Arkansas State and Colorado State. Baker committed to the UA over offers from Illinois, Kansas, Ball State, Navy and Eastern Michigan, among others..
247Sports.com ranks Melton as the No. 124 offensive tackle in the country for 2020. Baker, who hails from Eueka, Missouri, is rated the 21st-best center in the nation.
The two commitments come in the wake of first-year offensive line coach Kyle DeVan’s recruiting trips to the west and midwes.
Melton and Baker join Culver City, California cornerback Khary Crump and Gilbert High School quarterback Will Plummer in the UA’s 2020 class.
